A Special Message
for Teachers
Your adventure in baby elf sitting is about to begin!
For teachers, Christmas is an exciting time of the year, and busy too! All the additional crafts, themed dress up days, parties, and programs are a lot of fun, but can also leave pre-school teachers and students exhausted and overstimulated.
Sometimes “less is more.” By bringing a SnowPixie into your classroom, you can simplify things and still add to the holiday fun while encouraging positive behavior. With an outward focus, SnowPixies help build responsibility (without threats of the naughty list!) based on positive reinforcement by volunteering to help Santa care for a wee baby elf. The students become teachers to help the baby elf learn about school and Christmas activities.
Being chosen by Santa as his helper with the responsibility of baby elf sitting will shift focus outward toward the needs of others during the Christmas season.

A SnowPixie can fit perfectly into your existing classroom holiday happenings in a way that encourages fun and age appropriate relationship driven responsibility for your students. The objective is to build a bond with the baby elf and help care for it through activities that you are already doing. In this way, you can have a classroom tradition that enhances the magic of Christmas.

Let’s go back to the “simple” part. Here are some examples of how SnowPixies can foster classroom Christmas fun and memories:

-
Read the Journey of the Snowpixies book to your class. Afterwards, have the class write a letter to Santa telling him the reasons why their class would be good baby elf sitters.

-
When the SnowPixie "arrives," use the birth certificate, personality card, and the letter from Santa to introduce the baby elf to your class and let them then introduce themselves to the wee baby elf.

-
We know from experience that a child will want to touch the baby elf, but you don't want to create the perception that it is a toy. Use the crib to make the SnowPixie mobile so it can experience all of your holiday fun!

-
Place your SnowPixie at the entrance of the classroom so that the students can greet the baby elf as they arrive and leave each day.

-
Create a seating chart that allows the SnowPixie crib to sit at a different desk each day. That student would make sure that the SnowPixie stays safely on their desk throughout the day and could be the one to bottle feed the SnowPixie once in the morning.

-
When your students are singing Christmas songs or practicing for a program, allow the SnowPixie to be their audience.

-
During small group time or center rotations, place the SnowPixie where it can watch the students complete an activity or craft.

-
Write letters to Santa to tell him how your SnowPixie is getting along in your class. The students could draw a picture for the SnowPixie to take back to the North Pole School of Elf Etiquette to show to friends.
-
The students could take turns sharing a story with a SnowPixie by either reading, telling a story, or showing pictures.

-
During a read aloud, the teacher could have the SnowPixie in its crib situated close by so it can listen to the story too.

-
Each day, allow several different students the opportunity to take turns coming up to the front of the classroom with the SnowPixie and share something about their weekend or their holiday traditions at home.
-
Some SnowPixie classrooms have sent pictures of tiny houses made for their SnowPixie (you can find some pictures in the Snowpxies Family Album). This is an opportunity for children to use their imagination and creativity, while giving the SnowPixie a warm welcome. They can use classroom materials or props to make the SnowPixie its own little home, or maybe even try to design or recreate the North Pole Nursery! This is something the whole class can work on together while listening to festive music.
This is just a sampling, but you get the idea. You will probably come up with more, and we would love to hear about your SnowPixie experience, so please email us at contact@weebabyelves.com!
Simple...right? Join the baby elf sitting adventure with a SnowPixie to add simple holiday fun to your classroom with a positive outward focus!
