You Will Find a Baby...

A newborn is always looked upon with joy.  A vision of hope and promise.  Perhaps that is why God chose to enter our world as a baby.

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy for all people. Today in the city of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Luke 2:10-12

“You will find a baby...”  The rag wrapped miracle of Christmas is that God proclaimed great joy in the cry of a helpless baby.  The King of kings set aside the brilliant crown of his heavenly glory to be born into our dark world, sharing in the humility of our humanity.  But the delicate dawn of that great light revealed for us the glory of his love, grace, and mercy.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:14

The Light of God’s truth came to us.  Darkness cannot overcome light.  The darkness that entombs us was forever defeated at the cross. Eternal hope was illuminated through the resurrection.  By grace through faith in Jesus as Savior we are called out of darkness to receive the indescribable gift of forgiveness and everlasting life.

As you celebrate Christmas, allow the story of the gift of his birth to inspire faith, ignite joy, renew hope, and illuminate the limitless reach of divine mercy that can be ours through Jesus.  Rejoice!
